This investigative documentary looks at the African American hair industries in terms of beauty and identity. Entertaining and moving comedian Chris Rock's award-winning film was inspired by his four-year-old daughter's question, "Daddy, how come I don't have good hair?".
The film includes first-hand, often hilarious accounts of black women's attitiudes about their hair and ultimately reveals their feelings about their own beauty and self-esteem. Rock visits beauty salons and hairstyling battles, scientific laboratories and Indian temples to explore the way hairstyles impact the activities, purses, sexual relationships and self-esteem of the Black community. Not to be missed!
