Happy Soul Festival is a major outreach vehicle that builds awareness of mental health and promotes wellbeing.

 

SEEKING PERSONAL MENTAL HEALTH STORIES

Do you have a personal story you would like to share relating to your experience of mental health? We are writing a feature on behalf of Happy Soul Festival and mental health awareness and are looking for real stories to include. We are more than happy to change your name or leave it anonymous if required and all stories will remain confidential unless asked for permission from yourself to print it. If you're interested please send Jenni on jenni@theamaconsultancy.com your name, BME background, and the illness you addressed and we will contact you about it in due course.

 

OPEN MIC POETRY NIGHT

Come and showcase your talent at the first ever Happy Soul Open Mic Poetry night at The Exhibit, Balham, 31 May from 6.30pm. Register with talent@happysoulfestival.co.uk to guarantee you perform.

 

VOLUNTEERS

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist us in the smooth running of events during this year's festival across 6 London Boroughs - Brent, Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton and Wandsworth.

Please email the following information to admin@happysoulfestival.co.uk: your name, contact phone, dates and times (during the festival: 25 May - 10 June 2012) you are available to volunteer, preferred London borough you would like to work in and we will get in touch with you with any arising opportunities.

All volunteers must be 18+ years. You will be invited to a training event prior to volunteering and a presentation ceremony on the 10 June 2012, where you will recieve a certificate of appreciation.

 

ART EXHIBITION - LONDON BOROUGH OF BRENT

As part of a celebration of creative and varied talents of young people in Brent, Happy Soul Festival and Fanon Southside Partnership are holding a showcase of music and dance performances at St. Mungo's Centre, Willesden on 8 June 2012, 1.00pm.

We are holding an art exhibition which is open for Brent residents aged 18+ years old to enter. This is an opportunity to showcase your artistic talents and we will be holding an award ceremony on the day.

Conditions:

1.
All artwork must convey one of the five ways to wellbeing. Therefore all artwork submitted would need to convey one of the following ways to wellbeing:
i) TAKE NOTICE - BE CURIOUS; ii) CATCH SIGHT OF THE BEAUTIFUL. REMARK ON THE UNUSUAL. NOTICE THE CHANGING SEASONS; iii) SAVOUR THE MOMENT, whether you are walking to work, eating lunch or talking to friends; iv) BE AWARE OF THE WORLD AROUND YOU and what you are feeling inside. v) REFLECTING ON YOUR EXPERIENCE WILL HELP YOU APPRECIATE WHAT MATTERS TO YOU.

2. To apply for your artwork to be exhibited, you will need to submit a picture of your artwork to brentcdw@southsidepartnership.org.uk with your name and contact details by 12 May 2012.

3. All artists will need to be available to showcase their work at the event. 

4. All applicants must be 18+ years old.

5. We cannot guarantee exhibition of all the work submitted and we will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to artwork submitted.

IF you are not a resident in Brent but are interested in submitting some artwork, please send your name, contact details and a picture of your artwork, following the same theme above to: admin@happysoulfestival.co.uk by 12 May 2012 and we will aim to exhibit it during the festival at another event.

 

CHILDREN'S FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

Back due to popular demand, is the children's 5-a-side football tournament.
Like last year, there will be three different age groups playing throughout the day U13, U14 - 16 and 16+.
Sutton United Football Club, Saturday 9 June, Registration of Teams begins at 9.30am.

COMMISSIONED YOUTH SHORT FILMS

The application process for 2012 is now closed. A panel of judges has selected five lucky youth groups to turn their story into a short film, which will be screened at the Youth Awards during this year's festival.
